A.F.F.S. members Capt. Mike Corblies, Skip Storch and Chip Jablonski will be at the SIMUL-CAST POND at the 2010 GARDEN STATE SPORTSMEN SHOW, Edison N.J.
I'm not able to keep up with a daily blog.. I just have too much stuff to do.. Like fishing, filming, editing, playing with my beautiful (almost 2 years old) grand daughter Madeline that now lives here with us.. Doing a little gardening and Oh yeah, going to work now and then.. But I do have some thoughts and observations on some days.. Things that I would like to pass on to our website visitors, students and A.F.F.S. members that may or may not fit into a particular section of this website.. I receive a lot of e-mails from all over the planet that some times have useful, comical and interesting information in them.. So this is the spot where I will pass some of them along to our visitors...
4/5/09... First off we are back on line in full force after suffering a computer death here over a week ago.. I will get back to all of your e-mails and internet phone messages right away.. I am now the proud Popa of a hot new machine with lots of cool features.. I hope it will help me keep things running smoother here for a while with the website and video editing.. Things were also good for us this weekend at the 2 Shows we exhibited at.. Lots of interest in A.F.F.S. Schools and locations from the folks that stopped by our booths.. Every body has Spring fever to get out on the water and throw some fly line.. Reports of small (very small striped) bass being taken on fly reached our ears at the shows from some credible sources both in Jersey and New York.. It won't be long now.. We still have room for some more students for our April and May classes.. Give us a call if you want to attend.. And send us some fishing reports for the site...
3/29/09... We had a pretty big display at a new little Show for us yesterday in Manahawkin, N.J. We took up a whole wall in the Fire House Hall with A.F.F.S. literature and fly gear we were selling.. Captain Al Zalata and I talked to a good number of fishermen interested in learning our sport, booking trips and swapped stories with a number of old friends and clients to make for an enjoyable day. Every body is just raring to get out fishing and the Show yesterday was pretty busy for a new event on the circuit. Next weekend Al and I will be out on the Island of Long in New York at Saint Joe's College on Saturday and then back to do the Spring Show in Cape May on Sunday.. A lot of work for a couple of old guys but we love it.. Hope to see some more of you there...
Anglers Fish for Information on the Internet (September 2008):In an AnglerSurvey.com poll, 42% of anglers reported that they search the Internet more than once a week to find information about fishing techniques, products and angling destinations. Other responses were as follows: approximately once a week, 16%; one to three times a month, 20%; and less than once a month, 18%. Only 3% reported that they “never” use the Internet for this purpose. Anglers Willing to Take Action to Protect Favorite Fishing Spots (June 2008):An overwhelming majority of anglers in an AnglerSurvey.com poll reported they would take preventive action if they learned that a government entity was considering closing a favorite fishing spot. Of the actions listed, the largest number of anglers (77%) stated they would e-mail their state or federal representatives to protest. A further 49% said they would write a letter to their representatives, while 44% said they would telephone their representatives, 33% said they would be willing to join organized demonstrations and protests. Fishing Activity Reduced by Access Problems (March 2008):More than 25% of U.S. anglers report reducing their fishing activities because of problems accessing their preferred fishing holes. In March 2008, AnglerSurvey.com asked anglers if they had canceled a trip or stopped fishing specific locations due to access problems. Of the anglers reporting such problems, 80 percent reported their access problems were in freshwater areas, while 15% experienced access issues in saltwater locations. Of all anglers, 10 percent either reduced their fishing activity or stopped fishing all together.
